“The Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) are a universal tool that companies, regardless of location or industry, can implement in the workplace and monitor progress towards gender equality. UN Women in Ukraine encourages and supports private companies in signing these principles to implement women's economic empowerment practices, as well as to raise business awareness of gender equality and anti-discrimination in the workplace. The total number of signatories of WEPs in Ukraine is 25 companies, and we will be happy to expand the range of organizations that undertake to support women and girls during the full-scale Russian aggression and in the subsequent recovery processes", - Halyna Meshcheryakova, program specialist of UN Women .

According to the Study «Ukrainian Female Entrepreneur Profile», which was conducted in 2021-2022, women are more often faced with a biased attitude towards labor activities due to gender. The lockdown and the full-scale war added to the difficulties in labor relations, in particular among women - this was noted by 7% of respondents.

"Women often face gender prejudices and limited work opportunities. According to the research, 19% of women in 2022 noted a negative and prejudiced attitude of the environment to the fact that they are running a business. For example, 13% of women are faced with the stereotype "A young woman does not understand anything", and 6% with the judgment "A woman cannot be a manager". The gender pay gap is 18.6%, which is lower than the global rate, but higher than in many EU countries. Training on the implementation of the Principles of Women's Empowerment (WEPs) calls for changing this - first of all, by realizing what WEPs exist and how they can be implemented in society," says the executive director of the Ukraine Investment and Trade Facilitation Center for Promotion of " Iryna Tytarchuk.
