"The implementation of the principles of women's empowerment by state and private companies, civil society organizations, and business associations is important for the sustainable and inclusive economic recovery of the country, for ensuring transformational results and achieving long-term solutions, as well as the participation of women in all these processes." - noted Halyna Meshcheryakova, program specialist of UN Women in Ukraine.

Women often face prejudices and pressure from the environment - for example, in combining the roles of mother and self-fulfillment in a career. The data of the study "Portrait of Ukrainian women entrepreneurs" for 2021-2022 speak for this.

"Women are often faced with gender bias and limitation of work opportunities due to gender - says the executive director of the Ukraine Investment and Trade Facilitation Center Iryna Tytarchuk. - According to the research, the lockdown and full-scale war have increased the number of difficulties at work, in particular among women - this was noted by 7% of the respondents. And 19% of women in 2022 noted the negative and biased attitude of the environment to the fact that they are running a business. The gender pay gap is 18.6%. This indicator is not the highest in the world, but it is higher than in many EU countries. Training on the implementation of the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) aims to make a difference – particularly through awareness of what WEPs exist and how they can be implemented in society.”
