Workshop "Synergy of cooperation between business and public organizations to improve the situation of women in Ukraine": how to participate
03 January 2024

On January 10, 2024, a workshop will be held in Kyiv to share experiences on improving the situation of women in Ukraine. The event will take place as part of the Empowering Women in Business initiative, which encompasses activities to promote gender equality and women's empowerment during full-scale war and recovery.
What does the program include and how do I register?
The workshop will take place offline in a networking format and will last three hours. The program includes speeches by signatories of the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) with case studies that illustrate successful practices for women's empowerment in the workplace, discussion and free communication between participants.
35 business owners, representatives of state and private companies, as well as civil society organizations that cooperate with business and implement programs for women's economic empowerment can take part in the event.
The participants will also discuss the issue of women's economic capacity in the regions using the "World Cafe" method - in small groups for the exchange of ideas and the formation of potential partnerships and initiatives.
The results of the group discussion will become the basis for practical steps within the framework of the Roadmap for the cooperation of public organizations and business, which is also implemented by this project.

Why should you visit the workshop?
The importance of the workshop in the context of modern challenges, in particular the invasion of Russia in Ukraine, was also emphasized by UN Women in Ukraine, because the development and implementation of WEPs is an effective tool for supporting the development and initiatives of women in the conditions of war and recovery processes.
"The community of companies that respect human rights and ensure gender equality is growing every year. Currently, more than 8,600 companies in the world, 26 of them in Ukraine, have already signed WEPs, thereby proving their commitment to support women and girls. UN Women in Ukraine supports the promotion of WEPs as an effective tool for achieving gender equality and empowering women in the labor market and in society in general, in particular during full-scale war and reconstruction," said Lyudmila Kovalchuk, UN Women in Ukraine project coordination analyst.
According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2022/23 Women's Entrepreneurship Report: Challenging Bias and Stereotypes, female entrepreneurs around the world are having an increasingly significant impact on society and the economy.
"Women not only develop businesses, but also create jobs, introduce innovations and solve social, environmental and economic problems in most countries of the world. However, according to the results of the "Opportunities of Women in Ukraine" study conducted in 2023, men better assess their opportunities for career and income, as well as security and support, compared to women. And the full-scale war intensified these issues and many others, which make it impossible for women to fully develop and take advantage of opportunities," says Iryna Tytarchuk, executive director of the Ukraine Investment and Trade Facilitation Center.
The workshop "Synergy of cooperation between business and public organizations to improve the situation of women in Ukraine" is part of the "Empowerment of women in business" initiative aimed at promoting gender equality and empowering women in business, supply chains and communities.
The Empowering Women in Business initiative promotes the use of transformative approaches to advance gender equality and women's empowerment.
The main goal of the initiative is to engage private companies in the implementation of programs aimed at achieving gender equality and economic empowerment of women in the workplace, supply chains and communities. One of the main goals of this initiative is to encourage organizations to implement WEPs in their activities.
