On February 18, 2025, invite to the workshop "Synergy of Cooperation: Best Practices of Private Companies in Women's Empowerment"

14 January 2025

This event aims to strengthen the role of women in the country’s economic activity and create decent working conditions for them. The workshop will be held online and will bring together business owners, representatives of civil society organizations and professional communities to explore existing and new tools and effective practices for implementing gender equality in the workplace. Holding such events is extremely important during a war, as involving women in recovery processes is the main path to building an equal opportunity society and sustainable economic development of the country.

The workshop “Synergy of Cooperation: Best Practices of Private Companies in Empowering Women” is a platform for sharing successful practices in promoting women’s rights and economic opportunities during a full-scale Russian invasion, discussing challenges and finding solutions. Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • learn more about the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs);
  • learn how to integrate WEPs into their companies’ business processes;
  • to launch partnerships for joint projects aimed at supporting women in various fields;
  • to propose new approaches to involving women in community activities.

“Initiatives to promote gender equality demonstrate a comprehensive approach that helps transform Ukrainian companies that are signatories to WEPs and society as a whole. We collaborate with business, the public and private sectors to create innovative solutions that can overcome gender gaps in the labor market and in society as a whole and thus contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. We are laying the foundation for women to become true leaders of gender-responsive recovery in Ukraine and EU integration processes,” emphasizes Halyna Meshcheryakova, Program Specialist at UN Women in Ukraine.

The workshop provides for an interactive format, including discussions in small groups using the “World Café” method. Participants will be able to jointly develop recommendations for building an inclusive work environment, offer ideas for supporting women in the workplace, and even develop a plan for implementing these suggestions.

The workshop will also tell you how to join the Alliance for Gender-Responsive and Inclusive Recovery of Ukraine, whose goal is to achieve gender equality and support women's empowerment in recovery processes.

How to join the workshop?

Participation in the workshop is free of charge. Details and registration form - at the link.

“Today, female leadership plays an important role in the reconstruction of Ukraine. WEPs allow companies to create comfortable working conditions, support women's career development, and promote the formation of a culture of equality. This has a positive impact not only on organizations, but also on the country's economy as a whole,” says Iryna Tytarchuk, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Investment and Trade Promotion Center.

Background:

The Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) are a set of seven principles that serve as a tool to guide businesses in promoting gender equality and empowering women in the workplace, labor market, and society. Through their implementation, companies change their approaches to supporting women, protecting their rights, and treating them fairly in the workplace.

"Empowering Women in Business" is an initiative to raise awareness, conduct training, and provide informational support to representatives of the private sector to improve their professional skills in implementing the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and implementing relevant programs, as well as to facilitate the creation of new partnerships with private companies, business associations, and NGOs to promote gender equality and expand women's economic opportunities.

"UN Women" is the United Nations entity for gender equality and the empowerment of women. It is the leading body coordinating the work of the UN system in the field of gender equality. It is a subsidiary body of the UN General Assembly, established by the Assembly's decision in 2010 to accelerate progress in meeting the needs of women worldwide, increase the efficiency of using available resources, and consolidate the mandates and functions of individual UN system units that dealt exclusively with gender equality and the empowerment of women.

Office Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine ensures the implementation of state policy to ensure equal rights and opportunities for women and men in Ukraine and the corresponding coordination of interaction between central executive bodies.
