What are the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs)
The Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) are a tool aimed at achieving gender equality, raising business awareness of gender equality and combating gender discrimination in the workplace. Any company can implement these Principles and track their progress.
The total number of signatories of WEPs in Ukraine is 26 companies. One of the goals of our initiative is to expand the circle of signatories who will undertake and contribute to the support of women and girls during the full-scale Russian aggression and in the subsequent recovery processes.

Why the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) are important
"Adherence to the principles of gender equality and active implementation of policies and practices to eliminate the gender pay gap allows organizations to increase employee satisfaction, commitment and motivation; improve the company's reputation internally and externally; to improve the practice of human resources management; as well as increase the stability and attractiveness of the company for investors", - says the executive director of the Ukraine Investment and Trade Facilitation Center Iryna Tytarchuk.

"According to the executive director of UN Women, Sima Sami Bachus, none of the indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030 have been achieved. 99% of the world's women and girls live in countries with significant gender gaps and limited women's empowerment. Regressive laws, violence and violations of women's rights continue to exacerbate global gender inequality. And WEPs are an important step towards overcoming entrenched gender inequality," adds Halyna Meshcheryakova, program specialist of UN Women in Ukraine.
